Testimony
Mrs. Fiona Shields
I would like to share my Testimony with you. 1 was
born on the 28th August 1968. I was brought up in a good home just outside
Newtownhamilton, Newry, Co. Down. I have four brothers and one sister. We were
sent to church and Sunday school every Sunday. However, I was never told that
the Lord Jesus died on the cross and shed his precious blood for a sinner like
me.
I got married at the age of 17 and my husband and I lived with my
parents for four years, until we got our own house built in Markethill, Co
Armagh. My dad got saved in May 1990 and then my mum in June 1990. I could see a
big difference in their lives and they were much happier. My mum ask me to go to
a mission in Newtownhamilton, the speaker was Noel Shields. This was the first
time that I ever heard I needed to be saved. Noel also spoke about hell and I can remember him saying that
unless you were saved you would never get to heaven. From that night I started
to read my Bible and continued to go to gospel missions. However, I still
refused to ask the Lord Jesus into my heart. My husband and I continued to go
pub's at the weekend and I drank and smoked. To be honest I did enjoy myself but
the next morning I would have had a headache and would not have been in good
form.
My husband, myself and our two children, Nigel and Julie, moved down to Markethill on the 28th December 1990. I started to go to one of the main churches in Markethill but I never heard that I needed to be saved. One day someone put an invitation through the letterbox inviting us to a gospel mission in Markethill. The speaker was Jim Whisart. The question I remember him asking was if the Lord Jesus was to come into the hall that night who would he take with him and who would be left behind. I knew I wouldn't be able to go because 1 was not saved. So at the end of the meeting I asked the Lord Jesus to save me. That was the 28th March 1996. Of course when I asked the Lord into my heart the devi1 kept saying to me that I was not saved and at 6 o’clock one morning the Lord lead me to Hebrews 13:5-6. There the apostle says :
|
“Let
your conversation be without
covetousness; and be content with such
things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is
my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” |

I have never been as happy as I am now. I would recommend my Saviour to everyone. I now attend Markethill Free Presbyterian Church. In closing I would like to urge you to read the words of Psalm 34. Amen. |
